Stock Market Intraday Chat: Mar 5th - 9th

Welcome to March!

Statistically over the past decade March has seen the market decline in the first half of the month, will we see some weakness come through?

Looking at a weekly chart you can now see some very clear divergence between the S&P and the Russell. This past week puts in a big red reversal candle on the small caps.

We have the iPad3 coming out soon so expect to see line ups of Apple fans peeing in their pants to be the first to get the new and better iPad!

I cant help but feel that this might be a "sell the news" event for AAPL, its worth watching closely. As AAPL goes, so does the QQQ.

Also front and center on your screens should be the US dollar which has staged a nice little rally over the past few sessions:

THE STOCK MARKET THREAD : NEW GUIDELINES

As chatter picks up and this thread gets busier, it is important that you please adhere to the following rules:

  • Respect your fellow traders. We may all disagree with each other at some point, but if you act out like a little girl, the mods will ban you and continue with their day as if nothing happened. This means no insults, derogatory remarks or any other type of behavior that derails the thread.
  • Keep off topic chatter to a minimum. If the market is flat and nothing is happening, we do not mind hearing about your weekend and your hot girlfriend. If the market is moving and trades are flying the best thing to do is post important stock related events that can help your fellow traders.
  • Are you new? Hold your questions until the end of the trading day, or post them in the Stock Market Education section.

woohoo...hopefully march madness spreads into the markets in someway or another biggrin.gif

With the launch date of the Ipad 3 rumored to be March 7th (this coming week), I thought I'd post this chart I just drew up... I may be missing an iphone release or 2. Maybe one of you Apple Geeks can update the chart w/ whatever I am missing..

As you can see, 4 of the 5 times Apple released a product the market pulled back.

I had posted this last night so I'll re-post here to give everyone the opportunity to experience something different.

https://www.gobulling.com/ljc/col/Entrada.tea

A trading platform in Portugal. A member and friend here (RG7803) lives and trades there. He is also our Eurozone Analyst and I wanted to try and experience his world.

They trade stocks and warrants. There are two different types of warrants: a call warrant and a put warrant. Sound familiar?

Go to his group, http://www.hotstockmarket.com/groups/show/12/fast-trading and read what he posts. He lives it and trades it every day.

Wait, are you kidding me (or am I not reading this correctly)? The unemployment rate has fallen for February to 8.3%? Fuuuu

Edit: I'm an idiot and it's March 3 today.

I'm not sure if we can do that but I sent an inquiry to the brokerage. I'm also interested in how others operate in a different country. If you look at RG's group, http://www.hotstockmarket.com/groups/show/12/fast-trading , you'll see he trades a little differently. I'm just a curious kind of guy. lol

I found this interesting, regarding the relationship of the apple vix (VXAPL) to the stock price recently.

Hi SJe,

I would add one extra note to your new GUIDELINES (just an opinion).

"Trading foruns do live with opiniions. However opiniions must be justified, with logical arguments, otherwise its just "guessing"...

Its irrelevant to say that "active X" is going south/north with XX% probability, unless you explain your thought, with reasonable arguments!"

Just an idea SJe, improve it if you like it...

Lets just go out there and say it: Philosuffer can not give guarantees on returns. laughing.gif

lol this is why most pundits say 30% or 50% but never go beyond that threshold.

most or all of this is just guessing...just some more educated and exp than others...some base their opinions on hopes and dreams more than techs or fundi's

Dont get me wrong! It was not my idea to personalize that note!

This is something that you do see written in capital letters every trading forum here: allways justify your point! Dont (just) say its heading north (south)!

Stocks are crazy these days in the middle east. Talk about a major bull run the last month. DFM is up pretty much at the daily limit which is set at 15% with no shares available for sale. Crazy!!.. Check out DFM with bid at 1.19 and no offers to sell. I tried to buy last week but did not have any luck getting through to anyone picking up the phone.
