The Sports Authority to Carry TASER C2 Personal Protectors
7:31 AM ET - PrimeNewswire

TASER International, Inc. (Nasdaq:TASR), a market leader in advanced electronic control devices, today announced that The Sports Authority will carry TASER(r) C2 Personal Protector device in selected stores nationwide. The TASER C2 will be available initially in 138 of the 433 Sports Authority stores this month. The first TASER(r) C2 Personal Protectors will debut at the grand opening of the new concept store for The Sports Authority in Lenexa, KS beginning on Friday, April 4 through Sunday, April 6, 2008.

"TASER International is proud to partner with The Sports Authority on the retailing of our TASER C2 Personal Protector," said Tom Smith, Chairman and founder of TASER International. "As our largest consumer retailer to date, The Sports Authority will provide greater availability of our TASER technology for consumers who are looking to protect their families or themselves."

"The TASER C2 was designed from the ground up with the consumer in mind," said Smith. "We have sold more than 160,000 TASER systems to consumers since 1994, and with the TASER C2, we have made tremendous technological advances to reduce the size, modernize the look and responsibly provide our cutting edge TASER technology for consumer personal safety at an affordable price."

"We will have TASER International representatives and our 40-foot TASER Mobile Showroom on hand as part of the grand opening events in Lenexa to support our new relationship with The Sports Authority," concluded Smith.

The TASER C2 Personal Protector is an affordable, futuristic palm-sized self-protection device. The units incorporate a revolutionary new public safety background check technology called CheckLok(tm) that adds to the accountability of the end user. With CheckLok, TASER C2 units are shipped in an inactive state. The devices cannot be used until end users successfully complete a background check from the privacy of their own homes or offices using a secure web site or a toll-free number. After passing the background check, the user is issued a unique activation code and the device is registered with the company to that individual.

In addition to the TASER C2 device, the package includes a disposable TASER cartridge, owner's manual, and training DVD video. To learn more about the TASER C2 Personal Protector, visit www.TASER.com.

TASER International Announces Two More Product Liability Lawsuits Dismissals
Monday 04/14/2008 7:30 AM ET - PrimeNewswire

TASER International, Inc. (Nasdaq:TASR), a market leader in advanced electronic control devices, announced that the court in the suspect injury case of Bellemore v. TASER International filed in the Superior Court of Arizona, Maricopa County, granted TASER International's motion for summary judgment and dismissed this lawsuit. In addition, the court in the suspect injury case of Molina v. TASER International et al. filed in the United States District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia, Martinsburg, granted TASER International's motion for summary judgment and dismissed this lawsuit as well.

"We are very pleased that the courts in both of these lawsuits granted our motions for summary judgment and dismissed both lawsuits against TASER International," said Doug Klint, Vice President and General Counsel of TASER International. "We believe these cases represent the difficult standard plaintiffs face in trying to establish that the TASER device is somehow defective. As noted by United States District Court Judge John Preston Bailey in his order granting TASER International summary judgment in the Molina lawsuit, 'Neither is this Court convinced that the plaintiff can establish a 'sufficient probability' that the TASER device was defective, nor as to what part of the device allegedly malfunctioned,'" continued Klint.

These dismissals represent the sixty-seventh (67th) and sixty-eighth (68th) wrongful death or injury lawsuits that have been dismissed or judgment entered in favor of TASER International. No moneys were paid for these dismissals. This number includes a small number of police officer training injury lawsuits that were settled and dismissed in cases where the settlement economics to TASER International were significantly less than the cost of litigation. TASER International has not lost any product liability lawsuit.

Police Use TASER Device to Save Distraught Woman With Two Knives
10 minutes ago - Primenewswire

TASER International, Inc. (Nasdaq:TASR), a market leader in advanced electronic control devices (ECDs) released the following NEWS ALERT:

According to an article which appeared on the Portland Press Herald's MaineToday.com on April 16, 2008, police in South Portland, ME, used a TASER(r) ECD yesterday to disable a 47-year-old distraught woman who had called police to say she had cut her wrists and would later threaten police with two large 8- to 9-inch knives.

When South Portland police officers arrived, the woman had a knife in each hand and advanced upon the officers threatened to attack the police in order to force police to shoot her. Officer Kevin Battle deployed a TASER ECD to temporarily disable her so the woman could be taken to Maine Medical Center for evaluation and treatment of her self-inflicted injuries.

The incident was the fifth use of a TASER ECD device this year, South Portland (ME) police said. Three of the cases involved people with edged weapons, and through the use of TASER ECDs, officers did not have to resort to deadly force, police said.

If we see strong volume running in and the volume on the options increase i think they have some good earnings to release. The sales overseas good be a good thing to the low dollar maybe why we may see a good quater. This thing would have to close above the 20ma on the daily though on some nice volume to get my look.

TASER International, Inc. Reports Record First Quarter Revenues

TASER International, Inc. (Nasdaq:TASR), a market leader in advanced electronic control devices, today reported financial results for the first quarter of 2008.

For the first quarter of 2008 revenues were $22.5 million, the highest first quarter revenue in the Company's history and a 47% increase over the same quarter of the prior year. Income from operations for the first quarter was $1.6 million, a 361% increase compared with $0.3 million in the prior year period. Net income and basic and diluted earnings per share for the first quarter of 2008 were $1.2 million and $0.02, respectively.

Significant events in the first quarter of 2008 include:

1. Significant sales orders were received and shipped to law enforcement agencies in the United States during the first quarter. The orders were from both new agencies deploying TASER(r) technology and from agencies continuing to expand the use of TASER Electronic Control Devices (ECDs) to their first responders. Several of the more significant orders announced during the quarter include Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IN), North Carolina Highway Patrol (NC), Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (NV), San Diego County Sheriff's Department (CA), Sacramento County Sheriff's Department (CA), Los Angeles Port Police Department (CA), Suffolk County Police Department (NY), North Dakota Highway Patrol (ND) and Doral Police Department (FL).

2. Maintaining a Federal markets focus rewarded TASER International with an order for our flagship TASER(r) X26 electronic control device (ECD) from the U.S. Air Force, which plans to begin deploying the devices to its Security Forces personnel.

3. International sales accounted for approximately $3.0 million or 13% of our total sales in the first quarter up 64% from the first quarter of 2007. This included a significant order from a new customer, the interior ministry of a foreign country, to equip its law enforcement officers with a total of 3,000 of our price-leading ADVANCED TASER M26 ECDs and related accessories.

4. Six (6) more product liability suits were dismissed during the first quarter representing a total of sixty-seven (67) wrongful death or injury suits that have been dismissed or judgment entered in favor of the Company through the first quarter. TASER International continued to see a reduction in the rate of new litigation as well as pending litigation in the first quarter of 2008.

5. The Company debuted the TASER X12 Less-Lethal Shotgun (LLS) Mossberg(r) shotgun during the 2008 SHOT Show in Las Vegas. The TASER X12 LLS is a fully integrated, less-lethal platform manufactured by Mossberg that has been optimized for the TASER eXtended Range Electronic Projectile (XREP), while providing for integration of the TASER X26 ECD for close-in engagements. The TASER X12 LLS includes TASER Radial Ammunition Key technology (patent pending) to prevent the system from accepting lethal 12-gauge rounds in order to remove the possibility of end users loading a lethal round in a less-lethal system during high stress situations.

"I am pleased to report that TASER International continues to expand on the momentum seen in 2007, evidenced by our strong sales in the first quarter of 2008," commented Rick Smith, Chief Executive Officer of TASER International, Inc. "Historically, the first quarter is seasonably weak from a sales perspective; however, I am pleased to report that past investments in research and development continue to provide a solid foundation as we seek new opportunities to diversify our revenue base and become a solutions provider to our customers. The first quarter results reflect our increased investment in research and development programs for new products such as the TASER XREP and TASER Shockwave area denial system as well as others we expect to unveil throughout the year. All of these products will expand the avenues through which we deliver our life protecting technology," concluded Smith.

The Company will host its first quarter 2008 earnings conference call on Thursday, April 24, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. ET. The conference call is available via web cast and can be accessed on the "Investor Relations" page at www.TASER.com. fresh off the wire:

Taser Sued for False Advertising, Unfair Competition and Injurious Falsehood
TAMPA, Fla., April 24 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Stinger Systems, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: STIY) a leader in electro-stun technology announced today that on Friday April 18, 2008, it filed suit against Taser International, Inc. (Nasdaq: TASR) in the United States District Court for the District of Arizona.

The suit arises from Taser's alleged distribution to potential Stinger customers of selected portions of an unfinished National Institutes of Justice Report, containing dated tests comparing Taser's model X-26 projectile stun gun to early versions of Stinger's model S-200 projectile stun gun. As the suit alleges, the National Institute of Justice, itself, has acknowledged receiving data regarding newer more advanced models of the S-200 rather than the version one model tested. The study was commissioned in 2005, prior to Stinger's S-200 being even a concept. The version one model of the S-200 was given in December 2006 after repeated requests by the testing university to make a comparison. The current model S-200 has had almost every aspect of the gun redesigned including cartridges, probes, wires, and circuitry. Virtually the only thing that remains of the gun tested and the current S-200 is the name and the external features.

The suit continues to allege in allegations 30 and 31, 'Taser has represented and implied to customers and potential customers of Stinger that the NIJ study is final and relates to the current design of the S-200. This representation is false and injurious to Stinger. Taser knew these representations were false or acted in reckless disregard for the truth or falsity of these representations.'

The suit seeks compensatory damages, punitive damages and attorneys' fees from Taser and an injunction.

Mr. Robert Gruder, Stinger's President, commented, 'On February 28th of this year, Stinger's litigation counsel Ray K. Harris at Fennemore Craig, PC alerted Taser by letter to the impropriety of its continued distribution of this incomplete NIJ report to potential Stinger customers and others. Taser did not take this opportunity to discontinue and recall distribution of the incomplete report. Stinger considers the necessary filing of yet another legal action between Taser and Stinger most unfortunate. However, in my opinion, I believe that Taser appears to not want to compete on a head to head basis. Why else would they resort to this type of tactic? Stinger is happy to compete on the merits of its S-200 stun gun's advanced technologies, quality and reliability alone. As more and more law enforcement agencies across the nation compare Stinger's newest S-200 projectile stun gun with Taser's prior art X-26 projectile stun gun, more and more departments are embracing the advanced technology of the S-200.'

University Of Florida To Continue Using Tasers

April 25, 2008 (FinancialWire) The University of Florida campus police will continue to use Tasers (NASDAQ: TASR) (Current Market Cap: US$476.81 Mil.) following a 2007 incident in which a student was shocked on national television to subdue him during a speech by John Kerry.

Taser procedures at the University were reviewed following an incident in which a UF student made headlines when he physically resisted being escorted from an auditorium by police at a September 2007 forum with John Kerry. On April 22, 2008, a committee on open policy released a 52-page report clarifying the University's use of force.

The committee said that a Taser is an intermediate, less than lethal weapon, and should be used only when it is appropriate to use an intermediate weapon.

Under revised usage guidelines, officers still would have been justified in using a Taser on the student, who was best known for uttering the phrase "Don't Tase me bro." when he was subdued by police. A Florida Department of Law Enforcement investigation ruled that the officers had followed state guidelines.
