Activision reports earnings on monday. I am looking to get into some Dec calls on this before hand.
A couple of their popular game franchises.
Call of Duty
Transformers the Movie.
Spiderman
Tony Hawk
Guitar Hero
Quake
X-Men
Marvel Alliance
Soldier of Fortune
Star Wars Battlefront
True Crime
The Movies
Bee Movie
Shrek
Doom
GUN
I think they can beat earnings and even guide up as all 3 next gen consoles are now on the market for this holiday season.
Best,
Spec

I made money off them last time around. Guitar Hero is huge right now going into the Christmas season. They will benefit from some delays from some of their competition. Might buy a few calls myself.

I frequent a lot of gaming boards and the word around them has been that Call of Duty 4 will be even bigger than Guitar Hero 3 for them. A lot of gamers have been saying that CoD 4 is better than Halo 3 even.
My question/concern is this: since these games are both being released in time for the holiday season, wouldn't it stand to reason that the earnings for them won't show up until They report the last quarter of this year sometime in '08?
...or is it more that you were thinking of playing the possible raise in guidance?

It could show up in guidance, but usually companies like to play it conservative, so I doubt they will guide very high. The real numbers won't show up until next report, so that will probably be the bigger pop. ATVI is probably one you can hold through the Christmas season and get nice gains as their products get buzz and hold through earnings as analysis usually underestimate performance of hot products. Then they should be good for another 5-10% pop.
