....for example the whiskey bottle is not labeled in your print (its just a star & white label)
|
My great grandparents are responsible for the white paint and the star (The star is actually a sticker, stuck on the painting). They were prohibitionists.

plus some of the details are "off" compared closely from your B&W pic to the color painting....i.e. paw placement is off
|
I don't see any of the paw placements being off.
I don't think that's smoke, I think the cigarette is the only thing smoking in the picture. The stuff that looks like smoke, after talking to my mom (Where the picture is hanging) is just light reflecting, or age of the picture.

wall picture is not a detailed match from your picture,
|
It's difficult to see the color painting, but the only detail that seems off to me is the birds in the picture. There doesn't seem to be any birds in the color painting, but there are definitely birds in my parents painting.

details in furniture and the satchel in the upper corner on the bookshelf is also slightly different...and placement of cards not "exact" in some areas comparatively....
|
I couldn't see any of this. Again, we're not able to see both paintings clearly, which could account for small details.

Just curious--What does the writing say above the signature copy on your print? There are several publishers who made prints and copies etc since the 1930's...have you removed it from the frame and looked at the back of the print for any possible notes or details for origin or a date?
|
Above the signature it says, "Copyright 1895 by"
My parents won't remove the back and look at it. They are afraid that if they do so, the paper is so old it my disintegrate.
