Art Identification

My family has had this "print" of dogs playing poker for as long as I can remember. It belonged to my Great Grandparents.

It's obviously a C.M. Coolidge, as his signature is clear on the front.

However, i'm unable to find which of his paintings it is from.

The picture has 4 dogs playing cards in it. All of the dogs appear to be the exact same type of dog (Whereas most of his paintings with several dogs in them are different types of dogs) and one of the dogs is holding 4 aces.

Anyone know where I could go and get this piece identified? I've tried Google and just can't find help anywhere. Ive looked at approximately 16 different C.M. Coolidge paintings and it doesn't look like any of them.

Any help is appreciated.

FWIW another art source & art forum is this:
http://www.askart.com/AskART/artists...S&artist=25191

Also...not that you shall reply to me at all...but your print has some odd differences from the painting of record however....for example the whiskey bottle is not labeled in your print (its just a star & white label) where in the original it is with a full label for whiskey...plus some of the details are "off" compared closely from your B&W pic to the color painting....i.e. paw placement is off, smoke from the cigars, wall picture is not a detailed match from your picture, details in furniture and the satchel in the upper corner on the bookshelf is also slightly different...and placement of cards not "exact" in some areas comparatively....

Your best option would be to consult a museum or art auctioneer to discuss your print and what it is exactly. When it comes to art there is always an array of forgeries and 'copies' & reproductions which may or may not be authorized or exact prints etc...only the experts out there in the art world can say for sure...but I am inclined to say you have a reproduction print of some sort..not sure what else it could be. It could be it was a early print done for a magazine--who knows...

Just curious--What does the writing say above the signature copy on your print? There are several publishers who made prints and copies etc since the 1930's...have you removed it from the frame and looked at the back of the print for any possible notes or details for origin or a date?

My great grandparents are responsible for the white paint and the star (The star is actually a sticker, stuck on the painting). They were prohibitionists.

I don't see any of the paw placements being off.

, smoke from the cigars,
I don't think that's smoke, I think the cigarette is the only thing smoking in the picture. The stuff that looks like smoke, after talking to my mom (Where the picture is hanging) is just light reflecting, or age of the picture.

It's difficult to see the color painting, but the only detail that seems off to me is the birds in the picture. There doesn't seem to be any birds in the color painting, but there are definitely birds in my parents painting.

I couldn't see any of this. Again, we're not able to see both paintings clearly, which could account for small details.

Above the signature it says, "Copyright 1895 by"

My parents won't remove the back and look at it. They are afraid that if they do so, the paper is so old it my disintegrate.
