I rarely get sick, but I woke up this morning with a running nose & feeling yucky.
One of my bf is an Avian Flu/Swine Flu fear-monger. So, I've decided to cancel all plans & stay home at least for today. I have to admit I don't feel well.

Seems to be picking up steam by the sounds of it. The rate of posts in here are increasing, this trend should continue as it gets colder.
In colder weather your sinus cavity and lips get dry, this leads to little cracks forming which the virus can easily enter.
So the colder and dryer it gets, the more cases we should see.

Interesting. I didn't know that dry lips caused more chances of catching viruses. I guess it makes sense. Maybe I'm a little slow. So, chap stick is a pretty good barrier huh?

I have no plans for traveling this flu season, and I don't go out much in the winter except to get groceries and such. I'm thinking I'll be fine. Just use hand sanitizer after you're done using shopping carts and things like that. I learned in microbiology that shopping carts are notorious for being fomites.
*A fomite is any object or substance capable of carrying infectious organisms. Yay vocab!

h1n1 is respiratory. Those who have respiratory issues like myself, are at high risk. It shouldn't matter if you have cracked lips or not, if you can breathe period, you are at risk of being infected.

The CDC has a good website which answers pretty much any question you would want to know (and a bunch you probably don't care about) about the H1N1 flu...
