I decided to drive by the new facility that is about 9 miles away. IT was brand new and about four times as large, I would guess. They are definitely growing.
Attached is a link to some photos I took.

I also see there is a company Quantum Spere ( www.qsinano.com) a few miles away in Santa Ana. They are doing research with GM. I think for the Hydrogen Fuel tanks using nanotechnology to ba able to store the H2 at lower pressures.
and there is a Quantum company in India, "SQT is an Indian private company which has a collaboration with Quantum Fuel ... India is the fifth largest and fastest growing Natural Gas Vehicle market " QTWW is to supplying Fuel Rails to India for CNG cars.

Outstanding Post, thanks for the Pics

News today of an Army contract with EnerDel sounds like it may be QTWW related:
http://www.greencarcongress.com/2009...-20091105.html
Other vendor supplying subsystem components to this hybrid HUMVEE? Maybe QTWW as recent news of a contract on an Army diesel hybrid system and they are currently working with EnerDel on the Fisker Karma propulsion system.
Any thoughts

Quantum Announces Advanced High Performance All-Wheel Drive Diesel Hybrid Electric Drive System
http://www.ethioplanet.com/vybes/200...-drive-system/
Friday, November 6, 2009, 21:33
IRVINE, Calif. — Quantum Fuel Systems Technologies Worldwide, Inc. (Nasdaq: QTWW) today announced that it has introduced a fuel efficient, high performance diesel hybrid electric powertrain, “Q-Force,” after six (6) years of development. This advanced, proprietary 4-wheel drivetrain can be configured for specialized military as well as commercial applications.
The first application of Quantum Q-Force is in a JP-8 fuel compatible diesel engine-based, battery dominant, series-hybrid electric military Alternative Mobility Vehicle (AMV). A number of pre-production prototypes that incorporate Q-Force have been successfully developed and built for testing and evaluation by selected commands to assess mission suitability, supportability, performance objectives, and guidance on final vehicle configuration.
In one configuration, the diesel engine produces 75 horsepower, the electric motor, 133 horsepower, and the powertrain yields 5,463 foot-pounds of torque after gear reduction. Features of Q-Force include:
Sophisticated System Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system, incorporating Quantum’s proprietary algorithms
Hybrid control system that minimizes battery size through optimized charge controls and regenerative braking
Optimized engine operation/calibration and generator performance
Advanced traction motor/transmission system
Alan P. Niedzwiecki, President and CEO of Quantum said: “Our innovative diesel hybrid electric all-wheel drive system provides high performance, acceleration and extended range, resulting in significant advantages for the U.S. Army in communications, surveillance, targeting, and reconnaissance missions. We believe that Quantum’s Q-Force drivetrain is also very well-suited for commercial applications including homeland security, border patrol, park service operations, and light-duty automobiles.”
In 2008 Quantum introduced a gasoline plug-in-hybrid electric drive known as ‘Q-Drive’ in the Fisker KARMA 4-door sports sedan. Fisker Automotive, a ‘Green American’ car company co-founded in 2007 by Quantum and Henrik Fisker, was recently selected by the U.S. Department of Energy for a low interest loan of $528.7 million, under the Advanced Technology Vehicle Manufacturing Loan Program.
Forward-Looking Statements

Quantum Ships Diesel Hybrid Vehicles to the U.S. Army
Quantum Fuel Systems Technologies Worldwide, Inc. (Nasdaq: QTWW) today announced that it is developing and shipping diesel hybrid vehicles to the U.S. Army's Tank Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center (TARDEC) National Automotive Center (NAC), with funding support through the U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM), and project administration through Alion. Quantum developed the Clandestine Extended Range Vehicle (CERV), which is a diesel hybrid electric vehicle targeted for quick-paced special operations-type missions involving reconnaissance, surveillance, and targeting.
The CERV design incorporates Quantum Q-Force, which is a new proprietary, advanced all-wheel-drive diesel hybrid electric powertrain. Quantum designed a unique purpose-built light-weight chassis, integrated the Q-Force diesel hybrid electric powertrain, performed a series of vehicle performance and safety tests and successfully built a total of six (6) hybrid vehicles as part of this program. This unique vehicle has a torque rating that exceeds 5,000 foot-pounds, can maintain a speed of 80 miles per hour, and ascend 60 percent grades. The Q-Force hybrid powertrain is capable of reducing fuel consumption by up to 25 percent compared with a conventional vehicle, helping to significantly reduce the carbon footprint. CERV is up-fitted with a unique weapons ring that Quantum designed to enable higher fire power for this high performance, versatile platform.
"The CERV program follows previous successful contracts with the U.S. Army, wherein Quantum designed and developed from the ground up, and demonstrated the Aggressor, a high performance light-duty off-road hybrid electric vehicle," commented Alan P. Niedzwiecki, the President and CEO of Quantum. "I am excited about our next generation diesel hybrid powertrain technologies and our new military special operations vehicle that is well-positioned to create another highly fuel-efficient and powerful platform that improves the military's tactical capabilities. We believe that the CERV program offers innovative solutions to meet the mission of the national defense effort, while reducing the fuel logistic burden. We acknowledge the support from TARDEC National Automotive Center for the success of this program."
In 2008 Quantum introduced a gasoline plug-in-hybrid drive known as the 'Q-Drive' in the Fisker KARMA 4-door sports sedan. Fisker Automotive, the "Green American" car company that was co-founded by Quantum and Henrik Fisker, was awarded a $528.7 million loan by the U.S. Department of Energy to develop and manufacture plug-in hybrid vehicles, including the Fisker Karma. In related news, on October 27, 2009, Vice President Joe Biden announced that Fisker Automotive is re-opening a 3.2 million square foot former GM factory in Delaware to mass-produce plug-in hybrid vehicles.

The topic is very good because the main point of the energy in any country is the fuel so the topic is very interesting.
