Rescue underway after oil rig explodes in Gulf

HOUSTON�The U.S. Coast Guard is flying to an offshore drilling rig explosion in the Gulf of Mexico, a Coast Guard spokesman said.
"Thirteen out of 13 are accounted for and it's still burning," said a spokesman for the Eighth District U.S. Coast Guard Command Center in New Orleans, referring to crew.
Coast Guard Petty Officer Casey Ranel said the blast was reported by a commercial helicopter company about 10:30 a.m. Thursday. Seven helicopters, two airplanes and four boats are en route to the site, about 130 kilometres south of Vermilion Bay along the central Louisiana coast.
Still unknown is whether the structure is a production platform or a drilling rig or whether workers were aboard, said Ranel.
Smoke was reported but it was unclear whether the rig is still burning, he said
The Coast Guard said initial reports indicated all 13 crew members from the rig were in the water. One was injured, but there were no deaths.
The platform owned by Mariner Energy is in about 800 metres of water, the Coast Guard said, and was not currently producing.
About 206 million litres of oil from an undersea well spilled into the Gulf after BP's Deepwater Horizon rig exploded April 20, killing 11 workers.
Mariner Energy describes itself as among the largest independent oil and gas companies operating in the Gulf of Mexico, with nearly 350 U.S. offshore leases at the end of 2009, with more than 100 of those in development
The company, involved in oil exploration since 1996, bought the Gulf of Mexico operations of Forst Oil Corp. in 2006, doubling its size.

BOSTON (TheStreet) -- Graymark Healthcare was one of several stocks trading below $10 poised to move on above-average volume Thursday as shares surged on the announcement of an agreement between the company and Walgreen .

Graymark Healthcare said late Wednesday it will sell the assets of 18 ApothecaryRx pharmacies to Walgreen. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed, although the companies said the transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter. Stanton Nelson, Chairman and CEO of Graymark, said the divestiture will help the company focus on its sleep apnea business.

Shares of Graymark Healthcare jumped by 25 cents, or 22.9%, to $1.34 in Wednesday's after-market session. The average daily share volume for Graymark is 9,000....

Looks like they just got robbed.

SRA shares will be exchanged for 0.0833333 of a common share of Ram Power, RPG has been hovering around $2.3 since the most recent agreement. So when SRA signed on saying yes to this most recent merger, they were sitting at a deal of .185 or a .05 premium. Good fight SRA. It actually might be a blessing for SRA shareholders to shed that gong show.

At the end of 2009 and beginning of 2010 both SRA and RPG spent tonnes of cash fighting each other. RPG wanted them to accept the offer of .18/share for a take over, SRA was fighting it. Both led an active campaign complete with call outs and detailed mailers.

What do you think of this?
RPG has picked up a lot of really pre-mature projects and doesn't have a lot of capital. The Polaris and Western Geo projects have been pretty dormant since they were acquired by RPG.

Revenue for RPG seems like a ton of money and a long time away.

21 new drugs up for fda approval

i was reading an article discussing 21 new drugs that are up for approval in the next 2 to 3 months and was wondering what type of research should be done to find the most likley canidate to be aproved. also was wondering if their where certain drugs that have a bigger return if they were approved vs others. any advice will help this is my first time looking into an investment of that nature.

Figured I'd start a thread of high yield stocks/cefs for those interested, hopefully others will contribute. A few off the top of my head are-- DSU-HIS-FTR-WIN-AGNC. Havent played any of these in awhile and have no idea what the charts are showing so do your own DD. :Thumbsup: Some of the longs like to buy in and ride it out collecting the divs along the way, personally I'm a full blown trader now and dont own anything longer than a few days (when the daytrade goes bad and I'm to stubborn to set a stop :LOL:). There are hundreds out there at any given time- do some digging and good luck.
